Get ready for All-Star weekend!

The RBHL will be hosting its second edition of the All-Star Game on April 10th following the championship games and will introduce its first ever Skills Competition on April 8th. Both events will be hosted at XL Sports World in Apex. Be sure to read on for more details on the Skills Competition, some updates on the format of the All-Star Game, and to find out who your captains of this year's All-Star Game are!

The Skills Competition will be set on Friday, April 8th at 8:30 PM in place of our normal pickup. Four events will take place: the RBHL Accuracy Shooting Challenge, RBHL Fastest Shot, RBHL Shooting Stars, and RBHL Save Streak Challenge. There will be no cost to register for the event and rostered players of all skill levels are encouraged to register. Event participation is not guaranteed; however, each final event roster may be split into two tiers of players to ensure fair competition.

The RBHL Accuracy Shooting Challenge will be very similar to that of the NHL's. Players will line up in the slot and be tasked with hitting 4 targets that are attached to the corners of the net in the fastest time possible. Players will only have 15 total shots to knock down the targets and the fastest time will take home bragging rights.

The RBHL Fastest Shot will also be very similar to that of the NHL's. Players will take 3 shots from the slot and the fastest speed registered wins.

The RBHL Shooting Stars is a unique challenge that requires a combination of speed and shooting accuracy. Players will take shots from 7 different areas of the floor. Here's the catch: they must fire off all 7 shots in 45 seconds or less. The player who scores the most goals will win. In the event of a tie, the player that took the 7 shots in the least amount of time will win the tie break.

Last, but certainly not least, our goalies will be on stage for the RBHL Save Streak Challenge. Goalies will take on 20 shootout attempts from a set lineup of players and the goalie that saves the most consecutive attempts will be crowned the winner.

Don't worry - we're only getting started. This season's All-Star Game looks a lot different than last and will be played NHL style with 4 different teams. Each team will consist of 8 players and a goalie. The teams will play a 4-on-4 single elimination tournament with games lasting a total of 20 minutes split into two 10 minute periods. In the event of overtime, there will be a 5 minute 3-on-3 period played followed by a shootout.

Who made it, you ask? Well, we can't divulge all the details quite yet. We can share who our captains are...drum roll please:

Kevin Ebner - Lock Monsters
Nick Cassetta - Whalers
Ryan Reich - Evil Empire/Reapers
Jeremy Ritter - Reapers/Storm Surge

We'll be announcing 24 more runners and 3 goalies next week as well as our "Last Player In" nominees. Players and fans will have a chance to vote in the last 4 runners and the last goalie, so stay tuned for more information!
